De zeer naïeve Amerikaanse videoverhuurder Wallace Ritchie, komt terecht in de interactieve theatervoorstelling ’Theatre of life’ in Londen. De instructies die hij per telefoon krijgt zijn eigenlijk bedoeld voor een koelbloedige huurmoordenaar. Zo raakt Wallace verzeild in hoog spel tussen ministers van defensie, callgirls en Russische moordenaars. En al die tijd denkt Wallace dat alles in scène is gezet door het theatergezelschap.
